Jason Manford to Join Michael Ball, Imelda Staunton, et al. in West End Sweeney Todd

Comedian Jason Manford will play Pirelli opposite Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton ihe Chichester Festival Theatre production of Sweeney Todd during its run at he West End’s Adelphi Theatre, July 2-27, according to a report on Whatsonstage.com.


Jonathan Kent has directed the production, which begins performances on March 10. It has choreography by Denni Sayers and musical direction by Nicholas Skilbeck.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler, the show centers on a man, once wrongly imprisoned, who seeks revenge on society.


In addition to Ball in the title role and Staunton as Mrs. Lovett, the company also features Lucy May Barker as Johanna, Peter Polycarpou as Beadle Bamford, John Bowe as Judge Turpin, Luke Brady as Anthony, Robert Burt as Pirelli and James McConville as Tobias.

The creative team includes production designer Anthony Ward lighting designer Mark Henderson, and sound designer Paul Groothuis.
