Mary Testa, Lauren Worsham, et al. Set for NYFOS 2011-2012 Season

The New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) has announced casting for its five-program series at Merkin Concert Hall, presented as part of its 2011-2012 season.

In the Memory Palace: Games of Love (October 25 and 27) will feature Michelle Areyzaga, soprano; Rebecca Jo Loeb, mezzo-soprano; Paul Appleby, tenor; Andrew Garland, baritone; and Steven Blier, Michael Barrett, pianists. Manning the Canon: Songs of Gay Life (November 17) will star Scott Murphee, tenor; Jesse Blumberg, Timothy McDevitt, baritones; Matt Boehler, bass; and Steven Blier, pianist.

A Goyishe Christmas to You! Yuletide Classics by Jewish Songwriters (November 29, December 1) will include Lauren Worsham, soprano; Mary Testa, vocalist; Josh Breitzer, tenor; John Brancy, Joshua Jeremiah, baritone; Alan Kay, clarinet; and Steven Blier, piano. A Modern Person’s Guide to Hooking Up and Breaking Up (February 14 and 16) will feature Anne-Carolyn Bird, soprano; Liza Forrester, mezzo-soprano; Alex Mansoori, tenor; Jesse Blumberg, baritone; and Steven Blier, pianist.

The final concert in the series, New York to Paris, paris to Paradise (March 13, with an additional showing on March 11 at the Caramoor in Katonah, NY) will spotlight
members of Caramoor’s 2012 Vocal Rising Stars program.

NYFOS 2011-2012 season will also include NYFOS Next, curated by Gabriel Kahane and Phil Kline, and feature Joseph Thalken & Friends (November 8) and Russell Platt & Friends (April 24).

NYFOS will also present No Song is Safe From Us, a nationally syndicated radio series produced by Chicago’s famed WFMT and hosted by Frederica von Stade; its seventh annual NYFOS@Juilliard concert, Invitation to the Dance (January 18); and the Spring Gala, Over the Rainbow: Songs of Harold Arlen (April 2).
