York Theatre’s Spring "Musicals in Mufti" Announced

The York Theatre Company has announced the three shows that will comprise its 2005 “Musicals in Mufti” season of staged concert performances of lesser-known musicals.

The season will begin on April 1 with the 1978 Off-Broadway musical God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, based on the Kurt Vonnegut bestseller. This will be followed on April 8 by Jamaica, the Harold Arlen-E.Y. Harburg-Fred Saidy show about a West Indian girl who longs for the bright lights of Manhattan. Darling of the Day by Jule Styne, E.Y. Harburg, and Nunnally Johnon will close out the series on April 15; based on Arnold Bennett’s Buried Alive, the musical tells the story of a painter who escapes London high society by masquerading as his recently deceased valet.

Each production will have five performances, Friday through Sunday. Subscription tickets are priced at $90 and single tickets at $35; they may be purchased by calling 212-868-4444 or by clicking here. For more information about the York Theatre Company, visit www.yorktheatre.org.
