Xanthe Elbrick to Star Off-Broadway in Venus Flytrap

Tony Award nominee Xanthe Elbrick will star in the Active Theatre’s world premiere production of Anthony Dodge’s new play Venus Flytrap, to begin performances on November 4 at the Workshop Theater.

The production will be directed by Dodge’s wife, Marcia Milgrom Dodge, who received a 2010 Tony Award nomination for Ragtime. No other casting has been announced.

Elbrick will play Butch Diamond, a female detective in the 1940s. The actress received a Tony nomination and Theatre World Award for Coram Boy, and a 2010 Drama Desk Award nomination for Candida. She also starred in the Berkshire Theatre Festival’s production of Mrs. Warren’s Profession.

The creative team will include Michael Schweikardt (sets), Bobby Pearce (costumes), Matthew Richards (lighting), and Mark Menard (sound).
