Will Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill Head to Broadway?
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter is turning her album into a stage musical.
In 1995, Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette became a household name with the release of her generation-defining pop album, Jagged Little Pill. Nearly 20 years later, the seven-time Grammy Award winner has announced that she's adapting the record into a stage musical.
With a workshop to be held in 2014 (and no other information announced), Morissette will collaborate with Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt, who has signed on to provide orchestrations and arrangements. Kitt knows how to give albums the stage treatment — he did the same thing for Green Day's American Idiot.
Jagged Little Pill is expected to include all of the songs from the album, including "You Oughta Know" and "Ironic," as well as other Morissette hits and even some original songs.
