Wayne Knight to Play Herman in Sweet Charity

Wayne Knight, best known for his role of Newman on the hit sitcom Seinfeld, will play Herman, proprietor of the
Fandango Ballroom, in the Broadway revival of Sweet Charity from September 20 through October 16.

He replaces Rob Bartlett, who is to appear in the upcoming Broadway revival of The Odd Couple with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. Bartlett’s last performance will be Sunday, September 18. Knight has performed on Broadway in such shows as Gemini, Mastergate, and Art, and was seen Off-Broadway in the Public Theater production of One of the Guys. His other film and television credits include Third Rock From the Sun, Jurassic Park, and Dirty Dancing.

Sweet Charity stars Christina Applegate, Denis O’Hare, Janine LaManna, Kyra DaCosta, and Paul Schoeffler. The show, which opened on May 4, is directed by Walter Bobbie and features choreography by Wayne Cilento.
