Victoria Clark to Host Backstage at Encores! Series

Tony Award winner Victoria Clark will be the host for City Center’s Backstage at Encores! series of panel discussions, to be presented at City Center Studio 5.

The series will being with An Evening with Rob Berman (Monday, Oct. 17 at 6:30pm), in which musical director Rob Berman will offer behind-the-scenes insight into the process of mounting the entire Encores! season. In addition, special guest artists will perform selections from this season’s three upcoming productions, Merrily We Roll Along (February 8-19), Pipe Dream (March 28-April 1), and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (May 9-13).

Up next will be God, I Hope I Get It! (Monday, Dec. 5 at 6:30pm), in which casting director Jay Binder shares a sneak peek into the behind-the-table discussions that take place when an actor leaves the audition room and hosts mock auditions to demonstrate casting techniques.

The series will conclude with What’s the Buzz? (Monday, Feb. 6 at 6:30pm), in which a panel of today’s brightest young composers and writers discuss the changes in styles and trends of musical theater and try to predict how musicals will change in the decades ahead.
