Vernon Reid’s Artificial Afrika: A Tale of Lost Cities to Receive World Premiere at Dixon Place

Dixon Place is set to present Grammy Award-winner Vernon Reid’s Artificial Afrika: A Tale of Lost Cities, February 10-25.

In this world premiere production, Reid merges music, film, and visual art in a journey through the Dark Continent. The work contrasts the idea of Africa, a continent with many various cultures and languages, with Afrika, a notional landscape.

Reid is best known for leading the musical group Living Colour. In addition, he has collaborated with the choreographers Bill T. Jones on Still/Here and Donald Byrd on Jazztrain, among other projects.
