February 5, 2013 – Nick Adams (Priscilla Queen of the Desert), Drama Desk nominee Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins), Jessica Rush (Jersey Boys) and Michael James Scott (The Book of Mormon) will take the stage in a one-night-only benefit performance of Jason Robert Brown’s song cycle, Songs for a New World. The concert will take place on March 11 at XL Cabaret.

Directed by two-time Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun (Newsies), a portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to The Performing Arts Project.

Originally produced off-Broadway in 1995, Songs for a New World is a series of tunes, connected by the theme “the moment of decision.” The show employs four performers who do not play the same characters throughout the show, but have consistently developing character arcs.

The creative team for the one-night performance includes executive producer Jeremy Merrifield, musical director James Sampliner (Legally Blonde), lighting designer Jonathan Dunkle (Beauty and the Beast), and associate director Richard J. Hinds (Newsies).
