Trezana Beverley to Play Title Role in King Lear

Tony Award winning actress Trezana Beverley will play the title role in Take Wing and Soar Productions’ presentation of Shakespeare’s King Lear, to play the National Black Theatre, February 20-March 1. Timothy D. Stickney will direct.

The cast will also include James Edward Becton, Freeman Borden, Leon Addison Brown, Alvin Chan, Matthew Cohn, Jim DeMonic, Mary Hodges, Robin LeMon, Jennifer Le Blanc, Anja Lee, Marcus Lorenzo, Tom Martin, Morgan McGuire, Khemali Murray, Declan Sammon, Tovah Suttle, Chris Triana, Armand Valdes, Kari Nicole Washington, and Bryan Webster.

The creative team will include Pavlo Bosyy (set), Ali Turns (costumes), Joyce Liao (lighting), and David D. Wright (sound).

Beverley received the Tony for her work in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. She recently appeared in the title role of TWAS’ Medea and has worked extensively Off-Broadway and in regional theater as an actress and director, including recent productions of Salome, Yellowman, and String of Pearls.
