Michael Cumpsty, Tom Pelphrey and Jay Russell will join the previously reported star Tracie Bennett in the Broadway production of Peter Quilter’s End of the Rainbow, which will begin performances at the Belasco Theatre on March 19. Terry Johnson will direct the production, which will officially open on April 2.

Set in London in 1968, the show combines humor and heartbreak to capture both the drama of Garland’s final performances in London and her controversial life off stage. Among the songs included are “The Man That Got Away,” “Come Rain or Come Shine,” “The Trolley Song,” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

The production is designed by William Dudley, with sound by Gareth Owen, lighting by Simon Corder and musical direction by Gareth Valentine.

Bennett, who is reprising her role as Judy Garland from the original London production, won Olivier Awards for her performances in Hairspray and She Loves Me, with other West End Credits including La Cage Aux Folles, Les Misérables, and Cash on Delivery.

Cumpsty’s numerous Broadway credits include Sunday in the Park with George, Enchanted April, 42nd Street, and Copenhagen. He won an Obie for his performance in the title role of Hamlet, with numerous other Shakespeare credits to his name.

Pelphrey’s stage credits include The Lion in Winter and In God’s Hat. He won two Emmys for his work on CBS’ Guiding Light and also appeared on the CBS daytime drama As the World Turns.

Russell was seen on Broadway in The Play What I Wrote, with Off-Broadway credits including Our Town, Around the World in 80 Days, The Normal Heart, Private Jokes, Public Places, The Green Heart, and more.

As previously announced, the show will play the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, running January 28 – March 11. That run will feature the entire Broadway cast.
