Tovah Feldshuh and David Hyde Pierce Celebrate Women on Mother's Day
Producer Daryl Roth was honored.
National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene spent Mother's Day celebrating mothers with their Our Leading Ladies concert at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. Tovah Feldshuh hosted the event honoring 10 women who are "trailblazers in the arts, sciences, business and philanthropy." David Hyde Pierce presented the evening's top honor to Broadway producer Daryl Roth (Indecent).
Highlights from the concert included performances by Eleanor Reissa (Indecent), Joanne Borts (Once), Magda Fishman, Rachael Sage and Annette Ezekiel-Kogan, Dani Marcus (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), Rachel Policar (The Golden Bride), Daniella Rabbani, Rachel Yucht, and Grace Fields.
The musical-theater writing team of Barbara Anselmi (composer) and Brian Hargrove (lyricist and book writer) performed a song from their musical It Shoulda Been You with adapted lyrics in Roth's honor. The world-renowned violinist Alicia Svigals helmed an almost all-female orchestra.
The concert was produced by Folksbiene CEO Christopher Massimine, Moishe Rosenfeld, and Zalmen Mlotek. Founded in 1915, Folksbiene, now in its 103rd consecutive season, is one of the longest continuously producing theater companies in the world.
