Tony Roberts to Receive Friars Club’s Thespian Award

Broadway and film veteran Tony Roberts will receive the Friars Club’s annual Thespian Award at a private dinner and ceremony hosted by Freddie Roman, the Club’s Dean, on Monday, September 24.

The event, to be directed by Randie Levine-Miller, Roberts will include a musical tribute featuring such stars as Lucie Arnaz, Veanne Cox, Jim Dale, Penny Fuller, Jackie Hoffman, Richard Kind, Donna McKechnie, Hal Shane, and Mary Testa. Roberts will also perform at the event.

Roberts is currently starring on Broadway as Danny Malone in Xanadu. He is a two-time Tony nominee for How Now, Dow Jones and Play It Again, Sam. His many other Broadway credits include The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, They’re Playing Our Song, Cabaret, and both the original production and the revival of Barefoot in the Park.
