Tony Awards Showcase at Times Square Visitors Center to Include Documentary Films Series

The inaugural Tony Award Documentary Film Series will be presented at the Times Square Visitors Center and Mini-Museum as part of the 2011 Tony Awards Showcase. Opening on May 9 and on display until the end of June, the Showcase will feature historic Tony memorabilia including costumes, posters, video footage, and much more.

The film series will feature works that examine what it’s like to be behind-the-scenes on a Tony-eligible Broadway musical. Each screening will begin at 6:30pm and will be following by a panel discussion with the film producers, Broadway theatre producers and talent.

Featured in the series are Finding Billy (May 9), about the search for the young male leads in Billy Elliot the Musical; Every Little Step (May 16), which follows the real-life dancers as they struggle through auditions for the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line; and Show Business: The Road to Broadway (May 23), which goes behind the curtain to capture a Broadway season in all of its controversy, passion, and risk.

The Tony Awards Film Series is free to the public. To RSVP, send ticket requests (two per person) and film preference to TonyFilmSeries@broadway.org.
