Tony Award Nominee and Emmy Award Winner Larry Haines Dies at 89

Actor Larry Haines, who received Tony Award nominatiions for his work in Promises, Promises and Generation, died on Thursday, July 17 in Florida. He was 89.

Haines also appeared in four other Broadway shows, Twigs, Tribute, Last of The Red Hot Lovers, and A Thousand Clowns, and worked in regional theater.

He won two Daytime Emmy Awards for his role as Stu Bergman on the soap opera Search for Tomorrow, and appeared in such films as The Odd Couple, The Swimmer, and The Seven-Ups. In addition, he played the role of Phil Cook in the 1974 TV version of The Country Girl opposite Jason Robards, George Grizzard, and Shirley Knight.
