Tom Hanks Makes His Official Broadway Debut Tonight!

The late Nora Ephron's Broadway play Lucky Guy opens this evening at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Over 14 years in the making, the day has finally arrived. Nora Ephron's final play, Lucky Guy, which began its life in the late '90s as a screenplay, is celebrating its Broadway opening tonight at the Broadhurst Theatre. This will also mark the Broadway debut of two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks, playing the role of Mike McAlary, the Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper columnist. Emmy Award nominee Maura Tierney (ER) is also making her Broadway debut as Hanks' wife, Alice McAlary, alongside Tony Award nominee Courtney B. Vance (Fences) as editor Hap Hairston.

Directed by Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe (Angels in America), the cast also includes: Christopher McDonald (Chicago) as lawyer Eddie Hayes, Peter Gerety (The Lieutenant of Inishmore) as editor John Cotter, Peter Scolari (Sly Fox) as columnist Michael Daly, Michael Gaston (A Day in the Death of Joe Egg) as columnist Jim Dwyer, Dustyn Gulledge as Nick Tortorici, Deirdre Lovejoy (The Gathering) as reporter Louise Imerman and editor Debbie Krenek, Danny Mastrogiorgio (Golden Boy) as reporter Bob Drury, Richard Masur (Democracy) as editor Jerry Nachman and editor Stanley Joyce, and Stephen Tyrone Williams (Harper Regan) as Abner Louima. The creative team features scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, sound design by Scott Lehrer, lighting design by Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer, and projection design by Batwin & Robin Productions.
