Tickets for the Broadway revival of The Trip to Bountiful are now on sale at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre Box Office. Set to begin previews on March 30 and to open on April 23, its four-person cast boasts stars of both the screen and stage, featuring Emmy Award winner and Broadway veteran Cicely Tyson (The Corn Is Green), Emmy and Tony nominee Vanessa Williams (Into The Woods), Tony nominee Condola Rashad (Stick Fly), and Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire), who will be making his Broadway debut.

Written by Horton Foote, The Trip to Bountiful was originally a television play that aired on NBC in 1953 and was transferred to Broadway for a brief month-long run later that year. It was then adapted for the screen in a 1985 film starring Geraldine Page, who won an Academy Award for her performance as Carrie Watts, the role that Cicely Tyson will now be taking on.

The Trip to Bountiful tells the story of Carrie Watts, an older woman, who wants nothing more than to return to her small hometown of Bountiful, Texas -- despite the insistence of her overprotective son (Gooding) and domineering daughter-in-law (Williams) that she should not be traveling alone. The play bills itself as a "life-affirming and heartbreaking tale" that celebrates the power of hope and faith while revealing the fragility of memory.

In addition to an all-star cast led by director Michael Wilson (Gore Vidal's The Best Man), the production will feature scenic design by Jeff Cowie (Dividing the Estate), costumes by Van Broughton Ramsey (Material Girls), lighting by Rui Rita (Present Laughter), and original music by John Gromada (The Columnist).
