This Holiday, TheaterMania Wishes You a Merry Testa

The fantastic Mary Testa appeared in three different shows across New York in 2013. Let’s celebrate her!

Merry Christmas, Mary Testa! Whether those words sound the same to you or not, this most wonderful time of the year makes us think of one of NYC’s most wonderful actresses. In 2013 alone, the versatile performer took on three (well, technically four) drastically different roles. First, she played both The Mother-in-Law and The Governor's Wife in Brecht’s epic-theater classic The Caucasian Chalk Circle, then she showed off her operatic chops in Anna Nicole, and currently Testa is hamming it up in Seth Rudetsky’s 1970s-movie-sendup, Disaster!

Take a look at our retrospective of Testa in action, and have a merry Mary Christmas day.

In The Caucasian Chalk Circle, which opened at Classic Stage Company in May, Testa embodied a host of characters — including the wife of recently displaced Governor Georgi Abashvili (Jason Babinsky).
