Theodora Skiptares’ The Traveling Players Set for La MaMa Annex

Puppet artist and director Theodora Skipitares will premiere her new play The Traveling Players at the LaMaMa Annex, October 8-25.

This play-within-a-play, based on real life events, focuses on four international female activists who, while enacting excerpts from Euripides’ Trojan Women, share moments from their own struggles. The company features Carolyn Goelzer, La Vonda Elam, Sheila Dabney, and Nicky Paraiso.

Skipitares serves as playwright and director as well as production and puppet designer. The creative team also includes composer/musician Sxip Shirey and lighting designer Jesse Belsky.
