The Wizard of Oz Staged Reading Set for April 16

The Rainbow Troupe’s staged reading of a one-hour theatrical version of The Wizard of Oz will be offered on Friday, April 16 in the Bruno Walter Auditorium in the Library of Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Stephanie Fritto will direct the production, and David Brunetti will serve as musical director.

The abridged version of the movie features Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg’s classic songs such as “Over the Rainbow,” “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” “If I Only Had a Brain,” and “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead.” The show has been created by Deena Harburg, the lyricist’s daughter-in-law, and is being developed for use in schools.
