The Shakespeare Society to Honor Michael Kahn

The Shakespeare Society will honor Michael Kahn, director of the drama division of the Juilliard School and artistic director of the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, D.C., with its sixth annual Shakespeare Society Medal on Monday, September 20 at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (located at 68th Street between Park and Lexington). During the event, which will begin at 6:30pm, Kelly McGillis and Patrick Page will perform The Macbeths’ Murderous Marriage. Christine Baranski, Avery Brooks, Harvey Keitel, and Richard Thomas are among the notables set to attend.

The Shakespeare Society Medal, given in recognition of distinguished contribution to the world of the Bard, has been awarded in past years to Harold Bloom, Derek Jacobi, Claire Bloom, Sir Peter Hall, and Christopher Plummer. Each season, the Society offers its members programs featuring some of the world’s finest classical actors and directors. The organization also supports Shakespeare activities for teachers and students in more than 20 New York City public schools, and it runs an adult education program.

A limited number of tickets for the September 20 event, ranging in price from $25 to $45, are available by calling the Kaye Playhouse box office at 212-772-4448.
