The Play Company has announced the works that it will present during its tenth anniversary season.

First up will be the previously announced world premiere of Kia Corthron’s A Cool Dip in the Barren Saharan Crick, running March 4 – April 11 at Playwrights Horizons. A co-production between The Play Company, Playwrights and The Culture Project, Corthron’s play focuses on an African engineer and preacher-in-training who is taken in by a family in the American South and finds his calling with them. Chay Yew will direct the production.

The company’s second offering will be Enjoy, to run March 27 – April 25 at 59E59 Theaters. Japanese playwright Toshiki Okada’s comedy is about Japanese youth culture’s struggles with their changing economic reality. Dan Rothenberg will direct the piece, which is the inaugural project in The Play Company’s Universal Voices translation program.

During the spring, The Play Company will also stage a reading of Invasion, Swedish playwright Jonas Hassen Khemiri’s subversive play about race, identity and language.
