Paul Reubens’ The Pee-wee Herman Show will now play Broadway’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre, October 26-January 2. Alex Timbers will direct the production, which will feature music by Jay Cotton and the work of puppetry artist Basil Twist.

Reubens performed the piece in Los Angeles earlier this year at the Club Nokia @ LA Live in Los Angeles. The show is described a “re-imagined” version of the Reubens’ original stage and television show, Pee-wee’s Playhouse.

The stage production features Pee-wee regulars along with Pee-Wee’s talking chair Chairry, Pterri the pterodactyl, Conky the robot, Magic Screen, and Randy, as it charts a day in the life of the bow-tied hero. Complete casting will be announced shortly.

The creative team will include David Korins (scenic design), Ann Closs-Farley (costume design), Jeff Croiter (lighting design), M.L. Dogg (sound design), Jimmy Cuomo (design consultant), Jake Pinholster (projection design), and Ve Neill (make-up design).
