Terence Blanchard to Compose Original Music for Broadway Revival of A Streetcar Named Desire, Starring Blair Underwood

Five-time Grammy Award winner Terence Blanchard will compose the original musical soundscape for the upcoming Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire, scheduled to begin performances in spring 2012. As previously announced, Emily Mann will direct the production, which will star Blair Underwood as Stanley Kowalski.

Blanchard’s work can currently be heard on Broadway in The Motherf**ker with the Hat. In addition, he is currently working on his first opera. One of the world’s foremost jazz trumpeters, his recordings include Tale of God’s Will, Choices, and Flow.

Underwood’s theater credits include Measure for Measure, El Negro en Peru, and The Game of Love. He has been nominated for the Golden Globe Award for his roles in the television series, In Treatment and L.A. Law. His many film and television credits include The Event, Dirty Sexy Money, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Sex and the City, and The Art of Getting By.
