Terence Blanchard to Compose Music for Broadway’s The Motherf**cker with the Hat

Five-time Grammy Award winner Terence Blanchard will compose original music for Stephen Adly Guirgis’ The Motherf**cker with the Hat, which begins previews on March 15 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Anna D. Shapiro will direct the production, which will open officially on April 11.

The show will star Bobby Cannavale, Chris Rock, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Annabella Sciorra, and Yul Vázquez. The production will feature scenic design by Todd Rosenthal, costume design by Mimi O’Donnell, and lighting design by Donald Holder.

One of the world’s foremost jazz trumpeters, Blanchard is also currently working on his first opera. Among his recordings are Tale of God’s Will, Choices, and Flow.
