Soul Doctor, the short-lived Broadway and off-Broadway bio-musical about soul-singing rabbi Schlomo Carlebach, will embark on a world tour in 2018.

With a book by Daniel S. Wise, and lyrics by David Schechter, Soul Doctor played 32 previews and 66 performances at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre in 2013, after a three-week guest run at New York Theatre Workshop in 2012. It returned off-Broadway for a two-month 2014-15 run at the Actors Temple Theatre.

The musical follows Carlebach's life, from his escape from Nazi Germany to his friendship with jazz singer Nina Simone, to his rise to fame as a musician in the 1960s, playing with the likes of Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead. This latest version, directed by Gabriel Barre (Amazing Grace), is described as a "theatrical gathering rather than a standard book musical."

Tour stops in 2018 will include North America, Israel, England, and South Africa. Additional information was not provided.
