Tony nominee Bobby Steggert (Big Love) will star in a reading of the new musical Slaughterhouse Five, based on Kurt Vonnegut's seminal novel. The reading will take place April 7 at the Jerry Orbach Theater at The Theater Center.

Gabriel Barre directs the reading, which features music by Jed Feuer and book and lyrics by Adele Aronheim. The show follows Billy Pilgrim, a young man who is ripped from optometry school and thrown into the Battle of the Bulge. As he bounces back and forth from childhood to old age, from World War II POW camps to the planet Tralfamador, Billy grapples with the trauma of war and struggles to find peace along the way.

Steggert, whose credits also include Ragtime, Mothers and Sons, and Big Fish will star as Billy Pilgrim. Additional casting will be revealed in the coming months. This reading is being presented by Somerled Charitable Foundation.
