Sing-Along Tribute to Oscar Hammerstein II Set for The Triad April 30

The Triad will host It Might As Well Be Spring, a sing-along tribute to lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II, to be held on Friday, April 30 at 7pm.

Co-hosts Anne Phillips and Michael Shepley will provide piano and anecdotal accompaniment, respectively, and the audience takes over. Lyric sheets will be provided. The evening will also feature a special guest appearance by Amy Asch, editor of The Complete Lyrics of Oscar Hammerstein II.

Songs to be sung together will include hits from Hammerstein’s legendary collaborations with composer Richard Rodgers — including Oklahoma!, Carousel, State Fair, “South Pacific, The King and I and The Sound of Music, plus others from his work with Jerome Kern, Rudolf Friml and Sigmund Romberg.
