Sandy Duncan is set to star in the world premiere production of Lee Blessing's new play A Body of Water at the Old Globe Theater's Cassius Carter Center Stage, February 11-March 19.

Directed by Ethan McSweeny, the show will open officially on February 16. Also in the cast are Ned Schmidtke and Samantha Soule. The creative team includes Michael Vaughn Sims (sets), Charlotte Devaux (costumes), and York Kennedy (lighting).

The play concerns Moss and Avis (Duncan and Schmidtke), a man and woman who wake up one morning and find themselves in a strange house atop a mountain surrounded by water. They have no idea how they got there, or even who they are. On three different visits, a young woman named Wren (Soule) fills in their biographies -- but, each time, the scenario of their lives changes radically.

Blessing is the author of such plays as A Walk in the Woods, Thief River, Going to St. Ives, Cobb, and The Scottish Play. McSweeny's directorial credits include the Broadway revival of The Best Man and the Off-Broadway hit Never the Sinner.

Duncan is a three-time Tony Award nominee for The Canterbury Tales, The Boy Friend, and Peter Pan. Among her other New York stage credits are My One and Only, Chicago, and The Fourth Wall, and she recently toured the country as Anna in The King and I. Duncan has also starred in two television series, Funny Face and The Hogan Family.
