Samuel D. Hunter's The Few to Play Rattlestick Playwrights Theater
The play's New York premiere by the acclaimed author of The Whale is scheduled to run through June 8.
Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced that it will stage the New York premiere of Samuel D. Hunter's The Few under the direction of Davis McCallum. The play will begin previews on April 23, with an official opening night set for May 8. The Few is scheduled to run through June 8.
The cast will feature Gideon Glick (Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark), Michael Laurence (Appropriate), and Tasha Lawrence (The Whale, also by Hunter). The Few tells the story of Bryan, who abandoned his labor of love, a newspaper for truckers, four years ago. When he returns, he finds that things have changed: His former lover is filled with rage, his new coworker is filled with incessant adoration, and his paper is filled with personal ads. As he considers giving up for good, Bryan searches for what he couldn't find on the road: a way to keep faith in humanity.
The production will feature set design by Dane Laffrey, costume design by Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Eric Southern, sound design by Daniel Kluger, and properties design by Andrew Diaz. Eugenia Furneaux will serve as production manager, and Katie Young will serve as production stage manager.
