Tony winner Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon) and Telly Leung (Glee) have been announced to star in the Broadway premiere of Allegiance, a new American musical. The production will run at the Longacre Theatre with previews set to begin October 6 and an opening night planned for November 8. Olivier Award nominee Stafford Arima (Ragtime on the West End) directs.

As previously announced, screen star and internet favorite George Takei will make his Broadway debut starring in the new musical, which had its world premiere at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. Salonga and Leung also appeared in the premiere, which became the highest-grossing production in the Old Globes's 77-year history.

Allegiance features a book by Marc Acito, with music and lyrics by Jay Kuo. Inspired by Takei’s true childhood experiences, Allegiance is set during the period of Japanese-American internment in World War II. The new musical tells the tale of a multigenerational family exhibiting "loyalty, romance, humor, optimism and unparalleled heroism in the face of fear and prejudice against Japanese-Americans during World War II and beyond."
