Roy Arias’ Sex on the Beach Moves Off-Broadway Opening, Extends Run

Sex on the Beach, which was originally scheduled to open Off-Broadway on May 21, will now open on Thursday, June 2 at the theater located on the Fifth Floor of 300 West 43rd Street. The opening was delayed due to on-going renovations at the theater, and the limited engagement has now also been extended through July 30. Alfred Preisser directs.

The play explores the sex tourist industry in the Spanish Caribbean (Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico). In it, three characters of different genders and circumstances find the best way to a new life is through the oldest profession: The Transvestite: La Caramelo; The Hustler: Brazo E’ Niño; and The Cuban Escort (Jinetera): Esperanza.

Most performances are in English, with three in Spanish to be held on Sundays, June 5, 12, and 19 at 3pm.
