The Roundabout Theatre Company will present a new Broadway production of the Rodgers & Hart musical Pal Joey at Studio 54. Joe Mantello will direct the production, with performances beginning November 21, and an opening set for December 11. Casting will be announced at a later date.

Set in Chicago in the late 1930s, Pal Joey is the story of Joey Evans, a brash, scheming song and dance man with dreams of owning his own nightclub. Joey abandons his wholesome girlfriend to charm a rich, married older woman in the hope that she’ll set him up in business.

The musical features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Lorenz Hart. This production will feature a new book by Richard Greenberg, based on the original book by John O’Hara, with music direction by Paul Gemignani, and choreography by Graciela Daniele.

The design team will include Scott Pask (sets), William Ivey Long (costumes), Peggy Eisenhauer and Jules Fisher (lights), Tony Meola (sound), and Don Sebesky (orchestrations).
