If you thought your chance to see the original cast of Jonathan Larson‘s Rent perform that already classic rock opera was long gone, think again. Daphne Rubin-Vega, Adam Pascal, Idina Menzel, Anthony Rapp, Jesse L. Martin, Taye Diggs, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Fredi Walker-Browne, and company will be reunited on Monday, June 4 for a one-night-only concert version of Rent at Studio 54 to benefit the new Jonathan Larson Lab Space at New York Theatre Workshop, where the show originally played before turning Broadway on its ear.

According to NYTW artistic director James C. Nicola, “Rent was a life-changing event for the Workshop and everyone involved. It’s fitting that, in tribute to Jonathan, NYTW is creating the Jonathan Larson Lab Space, which will be specifically designed to give theatre artists a home to develop new work.”

The Monday concert will feature songs from Rent and other songs by Larson, who tragically died of an aortic aneurysm just before the show’s first public performance at NYTW. The event begins with champagne and a buffet reception at 7:30pm, followed by the 9pm performance and party with the cast in the VIP lounge at Studio 54. Tickets are available at $50 to $1,000 and may be purchased by phoning the New York Theatre Workshop at 212 780-9037.
