Oscar-winner Renee Zellweger will make her Broadway debut in Anthony Tambakis’ upcoming stage adaptation of Walter Tevis’ 1959 novel and the 1963 film The Hustler, according to a report on Deadline. The production will be directed by Gavin O’Connor. No timeline or additional information has been announced.

The Hustler tells the story of a young pool hustler who challenges a legendary player to a game, and the price he pays for success after he initially loses.

Zellweger won an Academy Award for her performance in Cold Mountain. Her additional film credits include Jerry Maguire, Bridget Jones’ Diary, and the musical Chicago, among others.

Tambakis is the co-author of the screenplay for the 2011 film Warrior, which O’Connor directed and also co-wrote.
