Rashad Naylor to Join Josh Grisetti, Justin Johnston in Off-Broadway’s Rent
Rashad Naylor will take over the role of Benny in the Off-Broadway production of Rent at New World Stages, joining the previously reported Josh Grisetti as Mark and Justin Johnston as Roger. All three actors begin performances on Friday, January 20.
Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical is inspired by the classic opera La Boheme, and tells of a group of friends in the East Village living and loving during the height of the AIDS epidemic. Michael Greif, who helmed the original production, has also directed this revival.
The cast also currently features Margot Bingham (Alexi Darling, Roger’s Mom), Brandon Victor Dixon (Collins), Arianda Fernandez (Mimi), Emma Hunton (Maureen), Marcus Paul James (Mr. Jefferson, Paul), Tamika Sonja Lawrence (Mrs. Jefferson, woman with bags), Aaron LaVigne (Mr. Grey and others), Corbin Reid (Joanne), MJ Rodriguez (Angel), Michael Wartella (Steve, Gordon, Waiter), and Morgan Weed (Mark’s Mom). Also in the company are Sean Michael Murray, Xavier Cano, and Genny Padilla.
