Robert O'Hara's play of vignettes explores the experience of growing up gay and black in America.
Robert O'Hara's new play Bootycandy is in performances at Playwrights Horizons now through October 12, with an official opening set for Wednesday, September 10. In the play, Sutter (played by Phillip James Brannon) takes an odyssey through his childhood, told through sketches that relate the experience of growing up gay and black in America. Performing with Brannon are Jessica Frances Dukes, Jesse Pennington, Benja Kay Thomas, and Lance Coadie Williams. Take a look at photos from this New York premiere production below.
