LAByrinth Theater Company has announced an initial slate of plays that will be presented as part of its 12th annual Barn Series, a year-long festival of free staged readings highlighting 13 new plays. The readings will be presented throughout the company's 2011-2012 season at its new home at the Bank Street Theater.

The first entry in the series will be Stephen Belber's look at the fallout from a newscaster's decision to pray on air for his deceased father, The Power of Duff (September 18-19), to be directed by Cat Miller.

The LAByrinth will also offer two readings of Cusi Cram's Fuente Ovejuna: A Disloyal Adaptation (September 22 & 29). Inspired by the play by Lope De Vega, the play, set in 1930s Madrid, examines how love can overcome tyranny. The performances will be directed by Suzanne Agins.

The third 2011-2012 Barn Series reading will be Florencia Lozano's comedy about loneliness, Busted (November 6-7), to be directed by Jill DeArmon.

Admission to the readings is free. Advanced reservations can be made only by LABpass Members, though seating will be on first-come, first-served basis for the general public. Patrons are advised to arrive at the theater at least one half-hour before each reading is scheduled to begin.
