Platform Group Announces Line-Up for The Ladder Series

The Platform Group has announced the line-up for The Ladder Series: A Staged Reading Series Aimed at Getting New Plays to the Next Rung, which will take place July 15-October at Long Island City’s The Creek and Cave.

The series’ plays will include Corey Pajka’s romantic comedy about relationships and addiction Long-Distance Drunk (July 15), directed by Gamaliel Valle. Reginald L. Douglas will direct The Bus Test (July 22) by David Meyers, a comic look at Wall Street. Shannon Cameron will direct by Joshua A. Kashinsky’s four stories of brides and weddings The Perfect Bride (July 29). Bruce Post’s black comedy about gender politics Size Matters (August 19), directed by Dina Epshteyn, will be presented next. Next, Ilana Becker will direct The Confession (August 26) by Will Arbery, a comedy about the relationship between two priests.

The series will continue with Jessie & Sam (or Sam & Jessie): A Totally Absurd Love Story (September 9) by Stephanie Swirsky, the tale of a girl, a dead boy, and a play, directed by Heather Cohn. Lillian Meredith will direct Wish Play by Kato McNickle (September 16), a romance about a book and its spell. Then, The Platform Group will present John Patrick Bray’s Donkey (September 23), which focuses on small-town politics and a corporate takeover. Finally, Melissa Crespo will direct Laurence Klavan’s Zombie Love (September 30), a comedy about movies and love.
