Theatre Women Awards to Honor Phylicia Rashad With Lifetime Achievement Award
The annual ceremony will be held at the TimesCenter on March 16.
The League of Professional Theatre Women will present the 2018 Theatre Women Awards at the TimesCenter on Friday, March 16, beginning at 6:30pm. The League of Professional Theatre Women's annual Theatre Women Awards are dedicated to promoting the visibility of the theatrical work of female-identifying artists and their contributions to the field, across all disciplines.
This year's Theatre Women Awards will honor actress and director Phylicia Rashad with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Other honorees include drama critic Linda Winer (LPTW Special Award), sound designer Cricket S. Myers (Ruth Morley Award), playwright Rohina Malik (Lee Reynolds Award), and director Adrienne Campbell-Holt (LPTW Lucille Lortel Award).
Best known for her role as Claire Huxtable on TV's The Cosby Show, Rashad has been seen on Broadway in August: Osage County, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Cymbeline, August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean (Tony nomination), A Raisin in the Sun (Tony and Drama Desk Awards), Into the Woods, Dreamgirls, and The Wiz. As a director, Rashad has also worked on productions of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Joe Turner's Come and Gone at the Mark Taper Forum; Paul Oakley Stovall's Immediate Family at the Taper and Goodman Theatre; Fences at the Long Wharf Theatre and McCarter Theatre; A Raisin in the Sun at Ebony Repertory Theatre, Kirk Douglas Theatre, and Westport Country Playhouse; Gem of the Ocean at Seattle Repertory Theatre; and Four Little Girls at the Kennedy Center.
