Cast members from the Broadway production of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, which performs at the Foxwoods Theatre, participated in a special New Year’s Eve event, shown live in Times Square and on CNN.

In the segment, presented in conjunction with the Times Square Alliance, the New Year’s Eve ball was dropped 30 feet before midnight — the first time in history the ball has descended early. The cause was attributed to The Green Goblin, who wanted to ruin New Year’s Eve, and had kidnapped CNN host Anderson Cooper. Spider-Man came to the rescue, and restored the ball back to it’s original position.

Participating Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark actors included Matthew James Thomas, Patrick Page, Jeb Brown and Christopher Tierney.
