Billy Porter hosted a TDF gala in support of the organization’s partnership with City University of New York (CUNY) called BEAT (Bridging Education and Theatre). The event was held at the CUNY Graduate Center on Thursday, December 1.

The event honored CUNY graduates actor Jimmy Smits (Brooklyn College ’80) and CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein (City College ’63). Broadway star Eden Espinosa performed, and the evening also featured appearances by actresses Julie Halston and Priscilla Lopez.

Proceeds will go to continue and grow the BEAT program, now in its second year. BEAT is designed to introduce the CUNY community to New York City’s performing arts through a range of programs designed by TDF and tailored to the needs of the CUNY community.
