The cast of the Public Theater’s production of William Shakespeare’s King Lear celebrated the show’s opening on November 7 with a party at Chinatown Brasserie.
The company of the production features Sam Waterston (Lear), Che Ayende (Duke of Burgundy/Knight/Servant), Craig Bockhorn (Doctor), Kristen Connolly (Cordelia), Michael Crane (Oswald), Herb Foster (Old Man/Knight), Seth Gilliam (Edmund), Enid Graham (Goneril), Bill Irwin (The Fool), Michael Izquierdo (King of France), Michael McKean (Gloucester), Arian Moayed (Edgar), Kelli O’Hara (Regan), John Douglas Thompson (Kent), Richard Topol (Albany), and Frank Wood (Cornwall). James Macdonald has directed the production.
Among the other celebrants at the opening were the theater’s artistic director Oskar Eustis and Patrick Willingham, who, as recently announced, will become the theater’s executive director on November 28, along with Matthew Broderick, Raul Esparza, and Annette O’Toole.
