New York City Center presented a benefit celebration on Monday, April 4 at The Plaza Hotel. Walter Bobbie, Kathleen Marshall and Jack Viertel, past and present artistic directors of City Center’s Tony Award-winning Encores! series, were honored at the event, which benefited New York City Center’s artistic and education programs.
The event was hosted by Christopher Fitzgerald, who also performed along with Jason Danieley, Rebecca Luker, Marin Mazzie, James Naughton, Bebe Neuwirth and Emily Skinner, accompanied by members of the Encores! Orchestra under the musical direction of Rob Berman.
Selections included “When Did I Fall In Love?,” “I’ll Buy You a Star,” “From This Moment On,” “My Cousin from Milwaukee,” “Falling in Love With Love,” “I Wish I Were In Love Again,” and “All That Jazz.”
Guests at the event included Ted Chapin, Mandy Patinkin and Kathryn Grody, Barry and Fran Weissler, Alexander Bernstein, Maurice DuBois, Ira Weitzman, Tom Viertel, David Ives, Maxwell Caulfield, Arlene Shuler, and Juliet Mills.
