The Lark, founded in 1994 as a laboratory for new voices and new ideas, celebrated the grand opening of the Lark Play Development Center on Thursday, April 26.
The evening included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and presentations by New York City officials, including a proclamation of “Playwrights’ Day in New York City.” There was also a presentations of 3-minute plays, written specifically for the occasion by Lark-affiliated playwrights, including Marcus Gardley, Tina Howe, Samuel D. Hunter, David Henry Hwang, Rajiv Joseph, Arthur Kopit, Theresa Rebeck, Chisa Hutchinson and Andrea Thome; as well as a musical by Doug Cohen and Zoe Samuels.
