On Tuesday, TheaterMania got a chance to meet the cast and creators of the upcoming Broadway musical Cry-Baby, which begins previews on March 15 at the Marquis Theater. Here’s film auteur John Waters, who created the movie on which the show is based, with Chester Gregory, who plays Dupree.
Broadway newcomer James Snyder plays the title role, while Company‘s Elizabeth Stanley is his lovely love interest, Allison.
The cast also includes veteran actor Richard Poe as Judge Stone and Tony Award winner Harriet Harris as Mrs. Vernon-Williams.
Christopher J. Hanke, who has starred on Broadway in Rent and In My Life, returns to the Great White Way as Baldwin.
Alli Mauzey stops the show in the role of Lenora.

On Tuesday night, TheaterMania was invited to a reading of the screenplay for Girl Talk, written by actress Kellie Overbey (right), at the Barrow Group’s space. Award-winning actress Kristen Johnston was one of the participants.
Actresses Lucy DeVito and Marcia DeBonis also took part in the reading.
Carrie Preston, who directed the reading, got a little help that night from her husband, Lost star Michael Emerson.
On Sunday night, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS held its annual Broadway Bears event at B.B. Kings, which raised $127, 000 for the cause. Here are Pirate Queen stars Linda Balgord and Stephanie J. Block admiring the specially-made bear in honor of their show.
