Casting of the Off-Broadway American premiere of The City Club, an original Blues and Jazz Musical about the indisputable intoxication of music, is complete. The show will begin previews at the Minetta Lane Theatre on April 3, with an opening on April 23.

The City Club is a twisting noir morality tale of intrigue, murder, corruption and sex. It is the story of Charles “Chaz” Davenport, a young privileged scion of a spectacularly corrupt family whose vice grip on their city is as tight as it is inescapable. The sins of the father have visited unimaginable wealth on the son. Obsessed with music and the people who write it, play it, sing it and worship it; Chaz has opened The City Club, a Mecca of pure and unbridled musical genius, opportunity and escape.

The cast will feature Kristen Martin (Crystal Labelle), Andrew Pandaleon (Chaz Davenport), Ana Hoffman (Maddy), Peter Bradbury (The Lieutenant), Kenny Brawner (Parker Brown), Autumn Guzzardi (Rose), Kaitlin Mesh (Lily), Patrick O’Neill (Jacobus “Jake” Olsen), Emily Tyra (Candy) and Robert J Townsend (Prince Royale).

The musical is written by an American and British team (composer/lyricists James Compton, Tony Demeur and Tim Brown, author Glenn M Stewart), and is being directed by Mitchell Maxwell. The creative team also includes musical director Jonathan Lynch, choreographer Lorin Latarro, scenic designer Rob Bissinger, costume designer David C. Woolard, lighting designer David F. Segal and sound designer Carl Sella.
