The Pearl Theatre has announced plans to honor actor David Hyde Pierce (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike) and founding artistic director Shepard Sobel at its 30th anniversary celebration on June 5. The event will take place on Thursday, June 5, at a private club on Manhattan's Upper East Side and will begin at 7pm.

Shepard Sobel founded The Pearl three decades ago in a Chelsea storefront with nothing but "questionable carpentry skills and a love of great theater." Hyde Pierce was part of the first group of actors Sobel assembled. Hyde Pierce will be honored for years of artistic contribution to the New York stage and screen, and Sobel will be honored for a lifetime of artistic achievement in a vibrant celebration of the creative spirit of New York.

Today, The Pearl is the artistic home of a diverse company of theater professionals including a resident acting company. Every production is accompanied by educational and audience enrichment activities.
