Paul Kandel, Ruth Maleczech to Star in Mabou Mines’ Lucia’s Chapters

Paul Kandel and Ruth Maleczech will star in Mabou Mines’ Lucia’s Chapters of Coming Forth By Day, to be presented at the company’s home space on the second floor of PS 122, September 14-25, with an opening on September 18. Sharon Fogarty has written and will direct the performance.

The play explores life and after-life of Lucia Joyce (played by Maleczech), the daughter of James Joyce (played by Kandel). The script uses an episodic or chapter structure modeled on the Egyptian Book of the Dead.

The production will feature music by Carter Burwell, set by Jim Clayburgh, and projections by Julie Archer.

As previously reported, the production is presented as part of 1st Irish 2011, New York’s annual festival of Irish theatre.
