Patti LuPone Addresses Her Phone-Grabbing Incident Before Shows for Days Performance

Two days ago, during a performance of Douglas Carter Beane's Shows for Days at Lincoln Center, the inimitable Patti LuPone stole the show — by taking a phone right out of the hands of a texting audience member. Yesterday, the incident had sections of the internet in a (mostly supportive) uproar, so before last night's performance, Lupone took to the stage to address the issue head-on. "Anything you wanna ask me?" she called out, and then proceeded to explain why, and how, she took that cell phone.
